Step 6: The lips

Add detail and depth/dimension to the lips

Step 7: Eye sockets

Here we are just working on eye sockets, not the eyes them selves. You can insert a sphere where youd like the eyeball to rest, as a guide to where to place your polygons. Continue to push and pull vertices, cutting and extruding to make a socket.

Step 7a: Pulling the sockets in

Here we see the inside of the head. Ive pulled the geometry in to allow me to work on eyelids. This also helps keep the surface continuous, where there are no holes in the geometry.

Step 8: Pulling the mouth in

Repeat with the oral cavity

Finish: If you have Unlimited, convert your object to Subdivision surfaces to see the result. If you have Maya complete, use Polygons>Smooth with a Subdivision Levels at 1 or 2.

I hope that this help you understand my basic workflow for building a head. If you have any problems with this tutorial, you can contact me at: smilepoint@aol.com or bweaver@e-trinsic.com

[Also note this tutorial was fully documented and 'screen capped' in 1 hour and 15 minutes total, so please don't write to tell me that my anatomy is off....or that my spelling sucks (what happened to my spell check!?!) Thanks!!!]
