To be honest do to the way maya works there's no way to do protection. More elaborate things have been attempted. but seriously circumventing this took about 2 minutes.
So no really security cannot be in the maya file but it can be in the surrounding structure but once its inside maya you can steal it.
PS: by the way theres a simpler more secure way by using expressions wich can be much more painful to track down. Or using nodes again nothing cam prevent the data stealing tough.
