amTinyTools for Maya 2016+
 
amTinyTools is my script collection devoted to speed up working in Maya. Currently it consist of 45 scripts mostly for modelling and animation. Some tools might not work in Mac OS and Linux.
 
 
 
  • toggle camera
Toggles camera between orthographics and perspective view with saving position.
  • align axis
Aligns selected meshes to world axis by selected components. In the case no objects selected operation applied to components's owner.
Possible selected components combinations:
2 vertices
1 edge
1 face
  • duplicate
Possible selected components combinations:
1 vertex
2 vertices
1 edge
1 face
1 edge and 1 face
1 vertex and 1 edge
on center of face (checkbox)
Used for edge and face combination. If checked point will be placed on center of face, otherwise on center of edge.
edge normals (checkbox)
Used for edge combination. If checked Z axis will be sum of connected to edge faces, otherwise goes along edge.
mirror through component
Mirrors selected objects using selected component combination as mirroring axis. In the case no objects selected operation applied to components's owner.
duplicate to component
Duplicates selected object and matches their z axis to selected components. In the case no objects selected operation applied to components's owner.

Merge new meshes after extracting/duplicating selected faces

detach selected faces
Detaches selected faces into 1 new mesh. Works with multi meshes.
patch hole with quads 2 sides
Creates poly square patch. Select open edges path and 1 vertex to mark corner. In the case no vertices selected middle one will be chosen.
patch hole with quads 3 sides
Creates poly square patch. Select open edges path and 1 vertex to mark corner. Second will be chosen from other side at same distance.
patch hole with quads 4 sides
Creates poly square patch. Select closed edges path and 2 vertices to mark side.
extrude and merge to center
Extrudes selected edges and merges into center point.
extrude and merge to vertex
Extrudes selected edges and merges to selected vertex.
create polygon triangle
Creates triangle polygon between 2 selected edges.
extrude around locator
Extrudes selected edges/faces around selected transform node.
boolean carve mesh
Split mesh into 2 pieces by another using booleans.

Match pivots of selected objects to last one.

select by type
Select nodes by types and scene position. There're 5 scene and 5 type keys:
scene
scene - search through entire scene
hierarchy down - search through children of selected
hierarchy up - search through parents of selected
both direction - search in both of parents and children of selected
root of selected - search through all children of main parent of selected
scene
all - all nodes
same - same type nodes
different - different type nodes
prefix - nodes with names started from given text in names
contain - nodes containing given text in names
hierarchy
Select either children or parents of selected nodes.
mask components
Mask one or several components by selection.
edge path between groups
Select the shortest path between edges path and edge.
components in object mode
Switch into object mode but save component selection.
toggle object and component modes
Toggle between object and component modes.
Select similar mesh components
Select similar components (vertices, edges, faces) to selected ones.
