    The new Copy to New UV set makes this even more awesome. It keeps the existing UVs intact. Thank you!

    I can transfer UV's, but when I save close and reopen, all my work vanishes. Not sure what the problem is.

    Your script is much better than the built-in function. One may even delete the non-deformer history and everything works fine. Great job!
