To start with, I have setup a simple scene in Maya. I Just created a Plane Vertical as wall. And I created a point light and placed near wall.

scene1

Selected the point light and In mental Ray, click at Light profile to assign shader.

scene2

It will take you to MentalRay light profile node. Just browse your desired IES profile to it.

scene3

Modify Lights intensity and color and render it.

Very simple to execute and its great help.

Hi, I know it exists an application for Windows to see IES lights rendering easily, before having to choose one for our Maya scene. This is IES Viewer (https://www.photometricviewer.com/), then ctrl+P to previsualize a photo rendering of selected model. Unfortunatly, I have not found equivalent for Mac. I only found a photometric data displayed in the web browser window, Visual Photometric Tool (https://www.visual-3d.com/Tools/PhotometricViewer/): my problem is there is no light rendering photo on VPT. I just see technical caracteristics for each of it... Could you please help me locate a tool with this feature? Pleasure to read you...

What I did is using the IES viewer for PC in my Mac through "WineBottler" ( https://winebottler.kronenberg.org ) and voila! install WineBottler and for this kind of software it's very useful because it's not too heavy.
