February 19, 2008 Hollywood, CA - Gnomonology is very pleased to announce two new on-line tutorials by Oscar Award-Winning Special Makeup Effects Artist Rick Baker. These two timelapse demonstrations represent an amazing opportunity to watch a master sculptor at work.
African Woman -
This demonstration is a four hour timelapse of the entire making of the African Woman by Rick Baker. There is no audio. Rick begins with a simple humanoid torso basemesh from which he sculpts the woman. The final result consists of several subtools that originate from mesh extractions. The demo is made with Zbrush 3.0 beta, therefore the interface looks a little different from the final release.
The Biker -
This video is a 97 minute timelapse demonstrating the entire making of the Biker by Rick Baker. There is no audio. Rick begins with a simple humanoid torso basemesh from which he sculpts the biker. Rick Baker is a Hollywood special
makeup effects artist known for his realistic creature effects. He is the
winner of six Academy Awards for Best Makeup. As a teen, Baker began creating
artificial body parts in his own kitchen. Baker's first professional job was as
an assistant to Dick Smith on the film The Exorcist. The first Academy Award
for Best Make-up was awarded to Baker for his work on An American Werewolf in
London. He has contributed to many films including Star Wars, Gorillas in the
Mist, Men in Black, The Ring, Ed Wood, Planet of the Apes and How the Grinch
Stole Christmas.
