"Papageno" from Mozart. The man who lives in the wood with the birds.
This is a 3D/2D illustration. I've been inspired by the old master painting but more focus on the texture and environment.
It took 1 month, with concept, and rigging. I've worked a lot between Maya and Zbrush, textured in Mudbox (prefer this one), and pushing the illustration details in photoshop. I did the matte paint in Photoshop too.
High Definiton (3500*1677)

Here is the different steps (3Dpass/occ/maya):

Hope you'll enjoy.

A personal project which started out as an experiment with Paint Effects my first time using Maya. It grew a bit over the next few years.
This project has been ‘complete’ on the shelf for a few years now, but I see a few things I’d like to improve, and intend to go back and redo parts of it eventually.
Originally rendered at 10800 x 6750 for a wall hanging. I used Photoshop to stitch together the render regions and do some final colour-correcting, but no painting. The moon is a texture, but everything else is 3D geometry; mostly created with stock Maya Paint Effects brushes.114 Views

This was a private project, rendering done with Vray for Cinema4D.
All plants are self-made, some of them have been build for www.laubwerk.com, others for www.silva3d.com.
The gravel and grass objects were scattered with help of the SurfaceSpread plugin.41 Views
