install instructions: place this file in the default "...documents/maya/scripts" folder. go to maya and run these two lines from a python tab:
import ao_ribbon ao_ribbon.ribbonUI()
Checkbox REVERSE = makes the U direction of the surface main direction and sticks the joints along it. For example, unchecking this for a cylinder will make the joints stick to V direction which is the default longest direction on the cylinder. It's almost always better to keep this checked unless U direction is manually made to be the longest direction.
