Cutter is a cross platform text editor written in Java. It was originally intended to support the scripting of RenderMan rib files and the writing of RenderMan shaders. It now supports many other programming and scripting environments including mental images mi files and shader writing, Mel, Python, Tcl, vex and others. Its associated web site, www.fundza.com, provides many tutorials dealing with a broad range of topics of interest to visual effects artists.
